National ID card for security: NCP Chair Dahal

CHITWAN, Sept 4: Chairperson of Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that national identity card is important for the general people and has long-term strategic importance from all points of view-- good governance, development and security.

CHITWAN, Sept 4: Chairperson of Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that national identity card is important for the general people and has long-term strategic importance from all points of view-- good governance, development and security.


Inaugurating the Field Office of the Department of the National Identity Card and Civil Registration in the premises of the District Administration Office here on Wednesday, Chair Dahal said discussions were underway between political parties and government regarding the issues to produce and distribute nation ID cards.

He assured that the Act related to national identity card would be passed by the National Assembly following its passage from the House of Representatives. 


The national identity card distribution program begun from Panchthar district has now been implemented in 15 districts including Chitwan in the second phase and it would be implemented across the country in the current fiscal year. 


On the occasion, former Prime Minister Dahal also got registered for a biometric national identity card.
