RAUTAHAT, May 15: A candidate for the post of ward chairman from the Nepali Congress (NC) has been arrested from Balara Municipality of Sarlahi district on the charge of ripping ballot papers.
Police have arrested Prabhakar Singh, a NC candidate for the post of ward chairperson, on the charge of tearing ballot papers after he was sure to lose the election.
On Mao’s path
According to Sarlahi Police chief, SP Prabin Pokharel, Singh was taken under control after he snatched the ballot papers from the hands of the staff and tore the ballot papers as it became certain that the Maoist center's ward chairman candidate Dinesh Kushwaha would win.
Similarly, police said that the counting of votes in Balara Municipality is still going on. SP Pokharel said that action will be taken against Singh, who is currently under custody.
