NC discusses Speaker election with parties outside govt

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Nepali Congress (NC) has started discussing the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives with the parties that have not participated in the government.

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Nepali Congress (NC) has started discussing the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives with the parties that have not participated in the government.


On Wednesday, the NC called CPN (United Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav and Loktantrik  Samajwadi Party Chairman Mahanth Thakur to their parliamentary party office for a discussion on the same.

NC has prepared to field its own candidate for the post of Speaker and to support a candidate from a party that is not participating in the government for the Deputy Speaker. An NC leader informed Republica that the parties which are not participating in the government have been called to a meeting and the Deputy Speaker candidate will be decided through their discussion.


NC is going to nominate MP Ishwari Neupane as its candidate for the post of Speaker.
