Urges govt to mobilize rescue teams and provide relief to the affected families
KATHMANDU, July 10: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property as a result of the floods and landslides triggered by the incessant rainfall in the past few days in different parts of the country.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba said Nepal was forced to face natural calamities at a time when the country is already facing a difficult situation due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19). Expressing sorrow over the loss of lives and property, Deuba has expressed concern about those injured and those forced to be displaced from their own houses and lose all their property as a result of the floods and landslides.
Deuba has urged the government to mobilize rescue teams in the affected areas at the earliest and work toward minimizing any further loss of lives and property. He has also directed the party's rank and file to get involved in rescue and relief activities and extend necessary support to the local administration for the same.
As many as 32 people are missing in Myagdi district as a result of landslides triggered by incessant rainfall. While at least seven people were killed and 11 others were injured in Kaski, three people have been killed and four others are injured in Lamjung. Similarly, two people were killed and 21 others are missing in Sindhupalchowk as of Friday morning.
As reports are awaited from various districts affected by the landslides and the floods, there are fears that the death toll could rise further. Home ministry officials in Kathmandu said local administrations are mobilized to carry out rescue operations and provide relief to the affected families.
