KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the upcoming parliamentary and provincial election is a struggle between the forces whether to retain democracy or to bring communism in the country.
Prime Minister Deuba said this while addressing a programme organized here today by the Ganeshman Singh Study Foundation to commemorate the 102nd birth anniversary of Ganeshman Singh – the supreme commander of the 1990's Peoples Movement.
"UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) are joining hands to uproot democracy and establish communism in an organized manner. In the upcoming elections, people should give mandate in favour of democracy against communism", he added.

Prime Minister Deuba, also the Nepali Congress President, urged the people to make NC the first party in the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.
"Freedom of speech, free expression and multiparty competition will be a far cry in the communist regime. Event there will be no existence of human rights", he noted.
He went on saying that his party had spearheaded the people's struggle against the Rana rule, Panchayat and despotic King Gyanendra in the past and would fight against any elements adopting anti-democratic character.
The country would take strides on the fronts of democratic consolidation, constitution implementation and economic prosperity if his party became number one in the upcoming elections, he further said.
Prime Minister Deuba said that all democrats should follow sacrifice, dedication and honesty Singh had shown in course of the establishment of democracy in the country.
On the occasion, NC leader Prakash Man Singh recalled Ganeshman Singh as a leader with honesty and principles who never practiced the politics of opportunity.
Ganesh Man had devoted his life to make the citizenry sovereign liberating them from the state of slave.
Leader Ganesh Man's son Prakash Man said that the historical people's movement of 2046 BS (1990) was undertaken under Ganesh Man's leadership and at the moment he had shown high sense of flexibility to bring communists to the multiparty competition.
Foundation Chairperson and former Minister Nabindra Raj Joshi said Ganesh Man Singh would eternally remain as an iron man in the Nepali political arena while recalling his unparalleled contributions to the establishment of democracy in Nepal.
