He secured the support of 64 provincial lawmakers, including 37 from Nepali Congress and 27 from CPN-UML, marking a significant political shift in the province.

Previously, Shalikram Jamkattel of the Maoist Center party served as Chief Minister under the UML-Maoist alliance but resigned on Sunday following UML’s withdrawal of support.

After Jamakattel’s resignation, Province Chief Sharma had invited parties to submit their claims for the Chief Minister’s position by 5 PM on Tuesday.

Alongside Lama, 13 ministers are scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy today, according to the Office of the Provincial Chief.
