KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Nepali Congress leader Chakra Prasad Bastola, who passed away on Saturday evening, will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat today.
The body of Bastola will be taken to Sanepa-based party headquarters from 1:30 pm to 4 pm to let party members and public pay final tributes to the deceased leader, according to a press release issued by the NC.
Leader Bastola's final rites will be performed later today at Pashupati Aryaghat, the party said.
Bastola, 74, breathed his last at his Khumaltar-based residence Saturday evening. Former Foreign Minister and Nepali Ambassador to India, Bastola was in the coma following the brain hemorrhage while attending a program in Biratnagar on 29 December 2012.
Bastola was admitted at Neuro Hospital Saturday and discharged at 4 pm following the doctor's confirmation that he was clinically dead. Then he was taken to his residence in Khumaltar.
Meanwhile, the NC said that it has put off today's protest programs following Bastola's demise.
Earlier, the party planned to submit memorandum to all District Administration Offices across the country in protest of excessive price hike in goods and imposition of 'unwarranted tax' on goods on the eve of festivals.
