KATHMANDU, July 25: The rival faction within the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed strong dissatisfaction with President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s unilateral decision to appoint ministers representing the party in the provincial governments.
Rival faction leaders stated that President Deuba has not consulted with their leader, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, regarding the formation of the provincial governments and ministerial appointments.
Paudel faction demands NC CWC meeting
On Tuesday afternoon, Dr Koirala discussed the issue with the party’s Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and Lumbini Provincial Committee President Amarsingh Pun at his liaison office in Bishalnagar. They concluded that their group should be allocated at least 2 ministers each in Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, three in Gandaki, and one each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Following the meeting, Koirala contacted President Deuba to convey his group's stance. However, there has been no response from the party president, leaving the rival faction unaware of the ongoing media reports about government formation in various provinces.
