KATHMANDU, May 9: Newly-appointed vice-president of Nepali Congress (NC) Bimalendra Nidhi on Tuesday reached Dumja, the birthplace of the late BP Koirala, to pay homage to the founding leader of the NC. Nidhi had reached Janakpur immediately after being elected through the party's Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting as the party's vice president on May 4. He had offered homage to his late father Mahendra Narayan Nidhi at his cremation site.
Late Koirala had picked Nidhi as the president of NC-affiliated Nepal Students' Union back in 1980. “I have arrived to this stage in politics due to the blessings of late BP Koirala. So, I have come here to offer him my sincere condolence,” Nidhi said after reaching the ancestral village of late Koirala.

Talking to the party's leaders and cadres, Nidhi said although the party had to face humiliating defeat in the recently held polls, it was the victory of the country, democracy and the parliamentary system as a whole.
He also claimed that the NC will secure majority in the next elections to be held after five years if there was no factional politics within the party. On the occasion, Nidhi also said that he will talk to senior leaders Ram Chandra Paudel and others to keep the party united. He also said that his meeting with the rival faction leaders immediately after the appointment was aimed at creating a friendly environment. General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and Joint General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat were also present in the meeting.
During the interaction, Nidhi said he will take initiatives to help address drinking water problems faced by locals of Dumja. He also announced that the NC will help in building BP Park and BP Museum to develop Dumja as a center of attraction to all democrats in the country.
