KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Demanding a re-run of parliamentary polls in his constituency, Tanahun-2, Nepali Congress (NC) youth leader Pradip Paudel filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday.
Claiming that he had lost the elections due to the conspiracies of the returning officer and his rival, Paudel demanded fresh election in the constituency.

Paudel has filed the petition stating that the election officers had counted 42 votes twice which led to his defeat and CPN (Maoist Centre)'s candidate Asha Koirala Khanal's victory. Paudel has demanded an election re-run, claiming that he had wrongly been announced to have lost the election by just five votes.
Chief Returning Officer, Returning Officer and lawmaker-elect Khanal have been named the defendants in the petition.
Paudel had garnered 16,641 votes, five votes fewer than Maoist Center's Khanal, who was declared the winner. Paudel had also filed an application with the chief returning officer, demanding an election re-run.
