NEA proposes increasing demand charge

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has proposed increasing the demand charge for industrial customers by Rs 100 per kV per month. At a public hearing organized by the Electricity Regulatory Commission on Thursday, NEA Managing Director Kulman Ghising said that NEA is planning to increase the demand charges for industrial and commercial sectors.

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has proposed increasing the demand charge for industrial customers by Rs 100 per kV per month. At a public hearing organized by the Electricity Regulatory Commission on Thursday, NEA Managing Director Kulman Ghising said that NEA is planning to increase the demand charges for industrial and commercial sectors.


The NEA has proposed increasing the demand fee for industrial customers of 132 kV by Rs 100. Earlier, the demand fee for such customers was Rs 220 per month. Now, the new proposed charge is Rs 330 per month.

The authority has now proposed Rs 340 as the demand charge for industrial customers of 66 kV. Currently, the charge is Rs 240 per month. NEA has proposed increasing the demand fee not only for the large industries but also for the customers of 33 kV.
