KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Nepal’s national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is set to operate direct flights between Doha (Qatar) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has already given permission to NAC to operate flights to those two destinations from January 4.

NAC spokesperson Archana Khadka said that the flight schedule for Bhairahawa from Doha and Kuala Lumpur has been approved. According to her, NAC will fly Kathmandu-Doha-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu two days a week (Sunday and Tuesday) and one day a week from Kuala Lumpur to Bhairahawa.

Meanwhile, NAC will have 14 weekly flights to New Delhi (India). The corporation said that the schedule has been re-approved so that all the flights to Delhi, which were cut earlier, will take place. The NAC will operate two daily flights between Kathmandu and Delhi.

For the last one month, the NAC operated 10 weekly flights to that sector. The NAC’s Delhi flight was cut after CAAN's binding decision that airlines operating more than three international flights must fly from Gautam Buddha international airport.
