KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal and Israel signed a labor agreement on Wednesday. With this agreement, Israel is now open for Nepali migrant workers. The Israel government has agreed to provide employment opportunities to Nepali migrant laborers in the fields of agriculture, construction and hospitality.
The labor enrollment for Israel will begin once the two countries sign the implementation protocol.
Door opened for sending Nepali youths to Israel for employment
Earlier, Nepal and Israel reached an agreement to enrol Nepali caregivers in hospitals, nursing homes and day care centers in Israel. The government officials of Nepal and the Ambassador of Israel to Nepal are scheduled to sign the implementation protocol soon which will then allow more than 500 Nepali workers to go to Israel in the first phase.
Dr Anjan Shakya, Nepal’s ambassador to Israel, and Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi signed the agreement amid an event organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
Likewise, the two nations also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on introducing Israeli agricultural technologies to Nepal by establishing agriculture centers of excellence in all seven provinces.
These agriculture centers are expected to give Nepal’s agriculture sector a much-needed boost and replace the traditional farming system with a scientific system through the establishment of the prerequisites for agricultural development.
