Nepal clinches ACC U16 East Zone Cup with impressive victory against Malaysia

KATHMANDU, July 4: The Nepali U-16 cricket team emerged victorious in the ACC East Zone Cup, securing their third consecutive title. The young Nepali cricketers exhibited outstanding performance, defeating Malaysia by a notable margin of 31 runs in the final match.

KATHMANDU, July 4: The Nepali U-16 cricket team emerged victorious in the ACC East Zone Cup, securing their third consecutive title. The young Nepali cricketers exhibited outstanding performance, defeating Malaysia by a notable margin of 31 runs in the final match.


Chasing a mammoth target of 253 runs for victory, Malaysia were bowled out for 31 runs in 14.5 overs.

Abhishek Tiwari took 5 wickets and Santosh Yadav took 3 wickets for Nepal. Tiwari bowled 6 overs and gave only 7 runs with one maiden.


While batting, Naren Bhatt scored a century for Nepal. He played 89 balls and scored 112 unbeaten runs with 2 sixes and 10 fours. Neeraj Yadav scored 47 runs, Suryanshu Koirala scored 18 runs, Santosh Yadav scored 26 runs, and Ashok Dhami scored 11 runs.


On the bowling side, Muhammad Akram from Malaysia took three wickets, while Arin Aquil and Muhammad Fadul Muin took one wicket each. On Monday, Nepal defeated Singapore, and Malaysia defeated Hong Kong to reach the final.


The cricket competition involved Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Maldives, Indonesia, and Thailand.
