KATHMANDU, June 30: President Ram Chandra Paudel participated in the Inaugural Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice during the 112th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) on June 13, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland.
In his keynote address at the Inaugural Forum, President Paudel pointed out the enduring relevance of collective efforts to achieve sustainable peace through social justice, echoing principles as vital today as they were a century ago. He reiterated Nepal's commitment to uphold social justice across all sectors, aligned with the Constitution of Nepal and the International Labour Organization's (ILO) principles. He also affirmed Nepal's dedication to implementing the 'Decent Work Agenda' and the Decent Work Programme (2023–2027).

During his visit, President Paudel held a bilateral meeting with ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo, reinforcing the collaboration between ILO and Nepal in advancing decent work and promoting social justice.
Another significant development during the 112th Session was Nepal's election as Deputy Member to the ILO’s Governing Body. This marks Nepal's second term as a member since joining the ILO in 1966. Serving for a three-year term until June 2027, Nepal's role as Deputy Member will enhance its participation in ILO's governance, enabling contributions to labor standards, decent work promotion, and tripartite cooperation.
The Nepali delegation to the International Labour Conference, led by Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Dol Prasad Aryal, included Secretary of MoLESS Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal as employers' delegate, and President of Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC) and Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) Yogendra Kumar Kunwar as workers' delegate.
