Nepal Family Party President Dhakal made proportional candidate for HoR by UML

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Nepal Pariwar Dal (Nepal Family Party) President and former Minister Eknath Dhakal has been made a proportional candidate in the election to the House of Representatives by the CPN-UML.

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Nepal Pariwar Dal (Nepal Family Party) President and former Minister Eknath Dhakal has been made a proportional candidate in the election to the House of Representatives by the CPN-UML.


In the closed list submitted to the Election Commission (EC), Dhakal has been included as number 2 after standing committee member Raghuji Pant. There was political cooperation between UML and Family Party in the last general election as well, and in the last local body elections, candidates of Family Party contested under UML's Sun symbol.

Inaugurating the third national convention of Family Party last November, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli announced that the cooperation between the two parties will be further strengthened.


Dhakal, who was also a member of the Constituent Assembly, was the Minister for Peace and Reconstruction in the Cabinet led by Oli. Dhakal is also the coordinator of the Asia Pacific region of the International Organization of Parliamentarians "IAPP".


When informed about Dhakal's candidature, Family Party’s General Secretary Santosh Kumar Paudel responded that the cooperation between the two parties has continued for the past five years, adding that Family Party will be active in developing the country by making CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli the prime minister after getting a majority in the upcoming elections.
