Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Cricket Tournament 2024 kicks off

KATHMANDU, March 3: The "9th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2024" kicked off today with a joint inauguration by Ambassador of Pakistan Abrar Hussain Hashmi, Binaya Raj Pandey, former President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), and Ujjal Raj Bhandary, Deputy CEO of Himalayan Bank Limited.

KATHMANDU, March 3: The "9th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2024" kicked off today with a joint inauguration by Ambassador of Pakistan Abrar Hussain Hashmi, Binaya Raj Pandey, former President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), and Ujjal Raj Bhandary, Deputy CEO of Himalayan Bank Limited.


During the ceremony, Pandey and Bhandary commended the Embassy for organizing the event annually since 2014 and emphasized the potential of cricket and sports to unite the youth of both nations and acknowledged Pakistan's efforts in promoting sports and education for fostering healthy activities among young people.

Ambassador Hashmi highlighted cricket as more than just a sport, emphasizing its role in bringing people together and building camaraderie and teamwork. He expressed confidence that the event would strengthen the friendly relations between Nepal and Pakistan, particularly among the youth.


Twelve cricket teams are participating in this year's nine-day tournament, scheduled to conclude on 10th March 2024. The event will be live-streamed on the Nepali channel "Mithila Nepal TV."
