POKHARA, Dec 5: Nepal has secured at least a bronze in the men's singles, doubles and mix doubles in the 13th South Asian Games at Badminton. Ratnajit Tamang in men’s single, the duo of Prince Dahal and Prafulla Maharjan in men's doubles, and the mixed duo of Bikash Shrestha and Anu Maya Rai in mixed doubles, all reached semifinals on Wednesday.
Nepal's Tamang defeated Sigbat Ullah of Bangladesh in straight sets, 21-13, 23-21. Similarly, Dahal and Maharjan defeated Bhutan's Karma Chhindru and Anish Gurung in straight sets, 21-14, 21-12. Mixed pair of Shrestha and Rai defeated Anish Gurung and Samjana Gurung in mixed doubles.
APF’s Dhami wins first of three badminton finals
In women's category for doubles, Jessica Gurung and Rasila Maharjan of Nepal were defeated by Sri Lanka's Pramodika Hendehowa and K. Sirimaghe as they lost 21-8, 21-7 in straight sets.
In the men's doubles, Nepal's Dipesh Dhami and Tamang were defeated by India's Krishna Prasad Garg and Dhruv Kapila in straight sets of 21-16, 21-13.
Similarly, Naveen Shrestha and Nansal Tamang of Nepal lost to mixed double pair of Mohammed Salman Khan and Urmi Akhtar of Bangladesh in straight sets of 21-13, 21-17.
