The vaccine is being procured with the financial support of the Word Bank through cost sharing arrangement with COVAX. Nepal has become the second country to reach this kind of agreement with the Gavi.

“We are one the very first countries to adopt a cost sharing policy with COVAX  and have been able to reach an agreement to procure one of the most effective COVID-19 vaccines soon,” said the Minister of State for the Health and Population Umesh Shrestha. “The Moderna vaccine will be administered to children aged between 12 to 18 years old.”

The vaccine is expected to be shipped to Nepal by March next year.
