KATHMANDU, July 31: The government has initiated a process to procure six million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to be administered against COVID-19.


According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the vaccine will be administered to children above 12.

The government is all set to procure six million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in the wake of the government’s decision to vaccinate all eligible population by mid-March, next year.


So far, Nepal has been administering Covishield, Vero cell and J&J vaccines against COVID-19 to people who are older than 18 years.


As many as 3,779,932 people have received their first shot of COVID-19 vaccines and 1,621,754 people have been fully vaccinated in Nepal as of Friday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).


Children are considered to be at higher risk of COVID-19 as the COVID-19 vaccines for minors have not been developed yet.
