KATHMANDU, March 14: Nepal received pledges for foreign direct investment (FDI) worth Rs 25.31 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year - a decline from Rs 28.46 billion during the same period in the last fiscal year.
According to the Department of Industry, the biggest chunk of the FDI pledge has come from China. A total of 105 Chinese companies looked for investing Rs 18.16 billion, which was 71 percent of the total commitment by foreign investors.

India with a pledged amount of Rs 3.86 billion is in the second position. The commitment from the southern neighbor stood at Rs 2.93 billion during the same period in the last fiscal year.
Of the rest, an FDI commitment of Rs 3 billion was pledged by the United Kingdom, Rs 1.65 billion by Singapore and Rs 1.57 billion from American investors.
