In a heartwarming collaboration that speaks to the power of community and compassion, Nepal Rising and Karmayog Foundation have joined forces to uplift and support the Chepang community in Nepal. Nepal Rising, with its commitment to empowering communities, generously provided the necessary funds for the initiative, while Karmayog Foundation took on the role of ground coordinator, ensuring that the project was executed effectively and efficiently. The primary goal of this collaborative effort was to improve the lives of children and community members in need within the Chepang community.
The project kicked off by providing essential items such as school dresses, shoes, and upcycled school bags to 90 students. This not only brought smiles to the faces of the children but also helped alleviate the financial burden on their families. Additionally, a medical camp was organized as part of the project, benefiting approximately 300 community members and providing much-needed healthcare services to those who needed it most.

The impact of this collaboration was deeply significant and was felt throughout the community. Maya Devi Chepang, a 37-year-old member of the community, expressed her gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the importance of the health camp, especially given the absence of a health post in their village. She thanked Nepal Rising for their support, which had made a tangible difference in their lives. Another community member, Laxmi Chepang, shared her happiness at seeing her children happy and well-equipped for school.
Despite the challenges they face, the new school dress brought immense joy to her and her children, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in uplifting and empowering communities. This collaboration between Nepal Rising and Karmayog Foundation exemplifies a commitment to supporting rural communities and making a positive impact where it is needed most. With plans for future collaborations and projects, the hope is to continue providing essential support and services to the Chepang community and beyond.
It is important to note that none of the students had shoes, proper school dresses, or bags to attend school. School is a place where children come to dream about their future, and without these essentials, it would be very difficult for them. They need to look good and be well-equipped with basic things, which is why we believe in helping them in a meaningful way. This initiative underscores our belief in the transformative power of education and community support.
