KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has reported five more COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the country's coronavirus death toll to 70.
At a regular press briefing, spokesperson for the MoHP Jageshwar Gautam provided details on the country's COVID-19 death toll.
According to him, three persons from Parsa, one person each from Siraha and Sarlahi succumbed to the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.
A 45-year-old man from the Birgunj Metropolitan City of Parsa who died while undergoing treatment at the Patan Hospital tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. Likewise, 79-year-old man from Parsa died of coronavirus at his residence on Tuesday. His throat swab tested positive for virus on Thursday.

Another man from Parsa died while undergoing treatment at the Gandak Hospital on Wednesday. He was 57. The man's throat specimen tested positive for virus on Thursday.
Likewise, a 25-year-old man from Golbazaar of Siraha passed away in course of treatment at the BPKIHS, Dharan, on Thursday. His throat swab was sent for testing which came out positive.
Similarly, a 45-year-old man from Sarlahi died of coroanvirus on Friday while receiving treatment at the Patan Hospital, Lalitpur. His throat swab was sent for testing which came out positive today itself. "With this, the country's coronavirus death toll has surged to 70," spokesperson Gautam said.
6,330 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in various isolation centers across the country, according to the spokesperson.
At least 7,926 persons underwent PCR tests in the past 24 hours, the spokesperson said.
"10,207 persons are currently in quarantine facilities across the country," he added.
