Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally goes past 200,000 mark

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally surpassed 200,000-mark on Wednesday as the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed 2,569 new cases in the past 24 hours.

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally surpassed the 200,000-mark on Wednesday as the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed 2,569 new cases in the past 24 hours. 


Of the 10,081 real-time PCR tests carried out in the last one day, 1,562 males and 1,007 females were diagnosed with the disease, according to the ministry. This has taken the total number of infections across the country to 202,329 since the country reported the first case on January 23 earlier this year. The number also includes 1,174 fatalities linked with the COVID-19 infection.

Meanwhile, twenty-six more people succumbed to this viral infection across the country in the past one day. The first COVID-19-related death in Nepal was reported on May 16. 


According to the COVID-19 updates released by the ministry,  as many as 162,243 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered from the disease including 1,666 recoveries reported in the past 24 hours. 


The Kathmandu Valley added 1,261 new cases on Wednesday. The Valley, where lies the country’s federal capital city, has so far reported 92,836.
