KATHMANDU, Sept 11: The Ministry of Health and Population said that 1,454 persons were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s national coronavirus case tally to 51,919.
Sharing the country’s COVID-19 national update on Friday afternoon through a virtual press briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the health ministry, said that 1,454 new cases of COVID-19 were detected through 10,701 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours.

The Kathmandu Valley alone witnessed 696 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the coronavirus tally in the Valley to 10,708.
As many as 972 more persons who had earlier tested positive for the virus were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. “With this, the number of people to be discharged after recovery across the country has climbed to 36,672,” Spokesperson Gautam said. There are currently 14,925 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
According to Gautam, five deaths related to coronavirus were recorded in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours. “With this, the number of people dying of coronavirus has reached 322 today,” Spokesperson Gautam said.
