KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The Ministry of Health and Population said that 1,459 persons were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s national coronavirus case tally to 56,788.
Sharing the country’s COVID-19 national update on Tuesday afternoon through a virtual press briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the health ministry, said that 1,459 new cases of COVID-19 were detected through 10,375 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours.

The Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 676 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
As many as 1,062 more persons who had earlier tested positive for the virus were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. “With this, the number of people to be discharged after recovery across the country has climbed to 40,638,” Spokesperson Gautam said. There are currently 15,779 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
According to Gautam, 11 deaths related to coronavirus were recorded in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours. “With this, the number of people dying of coronavirus has reached 371 today,” Spokesperson Gautam said.
