KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has been awarded with the 'Best Designed Stall Award' in the 4th China Internal Tourism Expo (CITE) held in Chengdu, China, on December 2-4.

The award was handed over to NTB representatives on Sunday, a statement issued by NTB said.

This is NTB's first participation in CITE. NTB along with three private sector companies participated in the expo to promote Nepali tourism products and services in the second-tier Chinese city.

Participated by more than 400 participants from 40 countries, the expo is considered to be one of the emerging tourism fairs in China. During the expo, officials of NTB made a presentation and also interacted with around with 20 buyers in the B2B meetings organized by the expo, according to the statement. “Local Chinese media also visited the Nepal's stall and interviewed Nepal Tourism Board officials,” it added.

NTB officials also made a courtesy call on Ye Yan, the general manager of CITS Sichuan International Travel Service Ltd -- the largest travel agency of China. “Yi told NTB officials that CITS was looking forward to work with NTB in promoting Nepal's tourism through social media and other means,” it added.

Sichuan Air and Air China operate direct flight between Chengdu and Kathmandu.
