KATHMANDU, Aug 3: British Council Nepal’s TeachApp has won the ‘Juror’s Special Mention’ award at the mBillionth Award South Asia 2016 held in New Delhi, India.
It was nominated along with 50 apps under the ‘Learning and Education’ category.

Launched under the initiative of British Council Nepal’s NIITE (National Initiative to Improve Teaching in English) Project, TeachApp is a teaching resource app for android devices.
It functions as a project management tool and as a medium of communication with the British Council in Nepal. Once downloaded, most of the teaching resources can be accessed offline.
“This application has been a great tool to facilitate the professional development of teachers. Quality self-access materials on different topics related to teaching and learning is now readily available for them,” said Dr. Jovan Ilic, British Council’s country director.
According to British Council, the app is designed to connect teachers from both rural and urban areas by providing relevant classroom teaching materials.
Since 2010, the mbillionth Award has been recognizing innovations in mobile communications from South Asia. This year the competition saw 348 mobile apps competing in 10 categories.
