KATHMANDU, July 11: Nepali national cricket team on Monday left for England to play against Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), one of the oldest cricket clubs founded in 1787.
The match between Nepal and MCC will be played at the Lord's Cricket Ground on July 19 to mark the bicentennial relation between the two nations.
However, before the match, Nepal will also play two 50-over and 20-over matches during the tour. Nepal is scheduled to return on July 22.
Although, the tour has been taken as celebration for 200 years of bilateral relations between the countries, it is vital for the Nepali team which is scheduled to face the Netherlands on August 13 and 15 in the fourth round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship.
Before leaving for England tour, Nepali team skipper Paras Khadka told Republica that the tour could be an opportunity to prepare for the Netherlands as the pitch condition of England is similar to the Netherlands.
Similarly, Coach Jagat Tamata also said that Nepal will take every match as preparation for the Netherlands encounter and try to learn the pitch condition of Europe.
Nepal has 15-member squad under the captaincy of Paras Khadka, while Jagat Tamata is the head coach.
