Nepali envoy in Pakistan urges PAL to translate Nepali literature into Urdu and other Pak languages

KATHMANDU, September 1: Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan Tapas Adhikari held a meeting with the Chairman of Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk in Islamabad on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, September 1: Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan Tapas Adhikari held a meeting with the Chairman of Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk in Islamabad on Tuesday. 


During the meeting, they exchanged views to enhance cooperation in the field of literature between Nepal and Pakistan. The two also discussed the possibility of Nepali and Pakistani literary exchange to further enrich mutual understanding between Nepal and Pakistan.

Ambassador Adhikari  requested the PAL to translate Nepali literature into Urdu and other Pakistani languages that could be helpful to take Nepali literature among Pakistani people. "Since Nepal and Pakistan have been enjoying a close and friendly relationship, we also discussed the need to include Nepali and Pakistani literature in our education system for better understanding of contemporary literature of the neighborhood," Adhikari told Republica.


During the meeting, Ambassador Adhikari handed over Urdu translated copies of Sardar Rudra Raj Pandey’s “Roopamati” to Prof. Khushk. 


PAL is a national academy of Pakistan under the Government of Pakistan with main focus to promote Pakistani literature and related fields. It is the largest and the most prestigious learned society of its kind in Pakistan. The Academy was established in July 1976 by the Government of Pakistan to promote literary activities in the country.
