Nepali film ‘White Sun’ premiered at Venice Film Festival

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Nepali film ‘White Sun’ has been premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Nepali film ‘White Sun’ has been premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.



The film directed by Deepak Rauniyar was premiered at the 73th edition of the world’s oldest film festival.



Nepali film ‘Kalo Pothi’, which also participated in the festival, grabbed the ‘International Film Critics' Week’ award last year.



‘Highway’ director Rauniyar, Tsering Rhitar Sherpa, Dayahang Rai and Asha Maya Magrati along with the ‘White Sun’ team was present at premier show.



The film has incorporated a story of Maoist insurgency where two brothers face dispute and disparity.



The story was penned jointly by director Rauniyar and David Barker.



Rauniyar’s second film was cinematographed by Irish-Canadian Mark and edited by David Barker along with Elizabeth Rao.



The main roles in the film are played by Asha Maya Magrati, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Sumi Malla, Amrit Pariyar, Pramod Agrahari, Deepak Chhetri, Desh Bhakta Khanal and Rai.
