Nepse drops marginally by 3.61 points, daily turnover declines to Rs 2.091 billion on Monday

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday slid 3.61 points down to close at 2,077.24 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,080.86 points. Following a series of fluctuations, the market reached the day’s high at 2,094.04 points in the first one hour of the trading. Then the market index gradually declined to hit the day’s low at 2,073.94 points in the last one hour before the market recovered around three points to close for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies added 0.06 points. The daily turnover declined again to Rs 2.091 billion from Rs 3.018 billion on Sunday. 


Eight out of 13 trading groups lost in their market values. Non-life insurance, and hotels and tourism shed the highest of 106.31 points and 92.68 points, respectively. Of the gainers, manufacturing and processing posted the largest of 37.19 points.


Among individual companies, the market values of 145 companies declined. On the other hand, 68 companies were registered as gainers.


IME Life Insurance Company Limited, with a turnover of Rs 112.441 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Siddhartha Premier Insurance Limited was the topmost loser. Three Star Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 9.98 percent of its market price.
