NEPSE escalates 21.27 points; daily turnover marginally falls to Rs 6.0 billion

KATHMANDU, July 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday increased by 21.27 points to close at 2,140.97 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,119.69 points and hovered between 2,125 and 2,130 points for one and a half hours. The index reached the day’s high at 2,146.82 points in the next one hour. The market slid by around six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased by 3.52 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 6.00 billion from Rs 6.48 billion Thursday.


Three groups including trading, finance and banking were the losers, while trading had the biggest fall of 69.42 points. Out of the 10 gaining groups, hotels and tourism, life insurance and non-life insurance added 160.77 points, 156.02 points and 141.91 points, respectively.


Among individual companies, 150 were recorded as gainers whereas 82 were the losers.


NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 217.14 million. CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited by adding 5.25 percent of its market value was recorded as the biggest gainer. Mailung Khola Jal Vidhyut Company Limited was listed as the biggest loser.
