Nepse gains 11.73 points; daily turnover records four-month high at Rs 2.799 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday added 11.73 points to close at 1,852.77 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,841.04 points and fell to the day’s low at 1,834.88 points in the first one hour of trading. In the next one and a half hours, the market escalated to as high as 1,861.22 points. The market shed around nine points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased 1.58 points. The daily turnover posted an impressive increment to Rs 2.799 billion from Rs 1.14 billion on Wednesday. 


Out of the 13 groups, only the trading index had its 13.65 points declined. Among the gainers, non-life insurance posted the largest of 209.24 points.


Among individual companies, 176 recorded gains whereas 57 companies lost in their indices.


Nepal Reinsurance Company Promoter Share had the largest trading of Rs 868.37 million. Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited gained 10 percent of its market value and was the highest gainer. Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd with a fall of 7.81 percent of its market price was the biggest loser.
