Nepse inches up 5.16 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 1.088 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday slightly increased by 5.16 points to close at 1,894.76 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,889.59 points, escalated to the day’s high at 1,904.99 points in the first 35 minutes of trading. In the next one and a half hour, the market fell to as low as 1,884.7 points. However, the market again followed an inclining path till the last 15 minutes and hit 1,898.44 points. The market then fell around four points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also gained 0.77 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 1.088 billion from Rs 1.283 billion on Tuesday. 


Three groups including manufacturing and processing, non-life insurance and trading lost in the intraday transaction. Of the remaining 10 gainers, hotels and tourism index gained the biggest of 89.56 points.


Among individual companies, the market values of 139 companies rose, while 85 companies posted losses in their indices.


Mandu Hydropower Limited with a transaction of its shares worth Rs 48.09 million, led in terms of transaction amount. City Hotel Limited added the highest of 10 percent in its market price. Similarly, Sanima GIC Insurance Limited registered as the biggest loser by shedding 4.21 percent of its market value.
