KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday gained 17.83 points to close at 2,064.09 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,046.26 points and fell around 17 points in the first few minutes of the starting of the trading day. Subsequently, the market surged to as high as 2,070.57 points before falling by six points to close for the day.

The daily turnover fell to Rs 2.96 billion from Rs 4.048 billion on Sunday. In the intraday trading on Sunday, a total of 165 companies gained in their market prices, while 39 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies inclined one point up.
Out of the 13 trading groups, 10 gained in their average market value. Manufacturing and processing, mutual funds and ‘others’ were the losers.
Among individual companies, Nabil Bank had its shares transaction worth Rs 168.45 million, the largest of all. Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the top gainer while NMB 50 lost the biggest percent of its market value.
