Nepse nosedives 23.82 points, daily turnover declines to Rs 950.47 million

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday plunged 23.82 points to close at 1,829.65 points.


The secondary market which opened at 1,853.48 points declined from the commencement of trading. The index plunged to the day’s low at 1,821.78 points in the last 10 minutes, while it recovered around nine points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell 4.48 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 950.47 million on Tuesday from Rs 1.099 billion on Monday. 


Only mutual funds secured a gain of 0.07 points while the remaining 12 groups were losers. Manufacturing and processing fell the highest of 152.65 points, while non-life insurance, hotels and tourism, and life insurance lost three-digit points in their market indices.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 201 companies decreased whereas 31 companies posted gains in their indices. 


Himalayan Distillery Limited with a transaction of its shares worth Rs 77.829 million stood at the top of the transaction volume lists. Mathillo Mailun Khola Jalvidyut Limited lost the highest of 9.94 percent of its market price. Menchhiyam Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 8.13 percent to its market value.
