KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday slid 2.82 points to close at 1,990.59 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,993.42 points and surged to the day’s high at 2,001.72 points in the first half an hour of trading. The market then went to the downward move and fell to as low as 1,985.74 points in the last eight minutes of trading. The market recovered around five points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell 1.13 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 1.13 billion from Rs 865.12 million on Tuesday.
Two out of 13 groups gained in the intraday trading. Hotels and tourism gained 72.15 points and ‘trading’ gained 37.55 points. Of the losers, the index of manufacturing and processing went down 36.61 points, the largest of all.
Among individual companies, the market values of 131 companies declined. On the other hand, 79 companies were registered as gainers.
Machhapuchhre Bank Limited, with a turnover of Rs 100.09 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Siddhartha Equity Fund lost the highest of 7.94 percent. City Hotel Limited, adding 9.88 percent to its market value, was the largest gainer.
