KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday fell 7.16 points to close at 2,170.18 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,177.34 points and soared to as high as 2,213.88 points in the first half an hour of the trading time. However, the share market could not retain the positive growth for the remaining period. The index went to the day’s low at 2,161.73 points in the last 15 minutes before the market closed for the day.

Despite a fall in the index, the daily turnover increased to Rs 3.691 billion from Rs 3.362 billion on Tuesday.
In the intraday trading, a total of 67 companies gained in their market value, while 142 were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also declined 0.87 points.
Two out of the 13 trading groups posted gains in their market prices. Except ‘others’ and trading, the remaining 11 groups lost in their market values.
Among individual companies, Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited posted the largest transaction amount worth Rs 112.86 million. Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was the topmost loser, while Terhathum Power Company gained the highest percent of its market value.
