NEPSE slips down 2.48 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 4.24 billion

KATHMANDU, March 13: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday fell 2.48 points to close at 2,108.72 points.


The market opened at 2,111.21 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,094.45 points in the first 20 minutes of trading. The index however surged to the day’s high at 2,123.71 points just in the next few minutes. The market remained stable for almost for the next two hours before the index declined by around 15 points to close for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies slipped 0.48 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 4.24 billion from Rs 4.55 billion on Tuesday.


Six of the 13 trading groups succeeded in adding to their market values. Finance index increased by the highest of 43.93 points whereas hotels and tourism, among the losers, shed the highest of 61.75 points.


Among individual companies, 96 were recorded as gainers whereas 133 were the losers.


Shivam Cements Ltd with transactions worth Rs 255.38 million led the segment of highest turnover. Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd was the top loser, while Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited added the highest of 9.99 percent of its market price.
