NEPSE surges 13.51 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 3.19 billion

KATHMANDU, March 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday increased 13.51 points to close at 2,030.55 points.


The market opened at 2,017.03 points and reached the day’s high at 2,040.74 points in the first 12 minutes of trading hours. The market then went to a series of fluctuations and reached as low as 2,017.31 points in the last hour. The index recovered around 13 points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 1.90 points. The daily turnover fell to Rs 3.19 billion from Rs 3.45 billion on Tuesday.


Among three losing groups, hotels and tourism had the biggest decline of 12.89 points, which was accompanied by trading and mutual funds. Of the 10 gainers, non-life insurance posted the highest gain of 163.18 points. 


Among individual companies, 176 were recorded as gainers whereas 59 were the losers.


Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited Promoter Share with transactions worth Rs 562 million led the segment of highest turnover. Peoples Hydropower Company Limited was the top gainer, while NIC Asia Growth Fund-2 shed the highest of 6.21 points of its market price.
