Nepse welcomes New Year 2023 with a double-digit gain, daily turnover crosses Rs 4 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday escalated 17.24 points, while the daily turnover stood at a notable Rs 4.048 billion.


The secondary market opened at 2,029.03 points and reached 2,052.37 points in the first five minutes of the trading day. In the next moment, the index rose to the day’s high at 2,083.19 points before going into a straight fall to lose around 30 points to close for the day.

The daily turnover increased by an additional Rs 2 billion from Rs 2.86 billion on Thursday. In the intraday trading on Sunday, a total of 121 companies gained in their market prices, while 87 companies were the losers.  The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chips companies also increased 2.71 points.


Out of the 13 trading groups, finance and development banks were the losers.  Of the remaining 11 sub-groups, life insurance added 301.35 points to its market value, the highest amongst all.   


Among individual companies, Nabil Bank had its share transaction worth Rs 225.74 million, the largest of all. Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the top gainer while Siddhartha Equity Fund lost the biggest percent of its market value.
