New variant of Covid-19 virus 'JN.1' detected in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: A new variant of Covid-19 virus has been detected in Nepal. The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) issued a statement on Monday and confirmed that a sub-variant of Omicron virus, 'JN.1' has been detected in Nepal.

According to the MoHP, the new sub-variant of Omicron virus, JN.1 was detected among 7 out of 16 samples collected for PCR and antigen tests.
