Newly-elected National Assembly members take oath of office and secrecy

KATHMANDU, March 4:  As many as 19 newly-elected members of the National Assembly took oath of office and secrecy today.

KATHMANDU, March 4:  As many as 19 newly-elected members of the National Assembly took oath of office and secrecy today.


Urmila Aryal, the Vice Chairperson  of the National Assembly, administered the oath of office and secrecy to them at a program held at the Lhotse Hall of the Federal Parliament Building.


Only on Sunday, 20 members of parliament, including the Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, bid farewell after  completing their 6-year term, while the newly-elected ones were welcomed.

Out of the 20 vacant positions, 19 were elected in the election held on January 25. One person is yet to be appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.


After the election for 19 members, the Maoist Center became the biggest party in the National Assembly.


These are the newly-elected members who have been sworn in:


Rukmini Koirala, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Pooja Chaudhary, Anand Prasad Dhungana, Bishnudevi Pudasaini, Jitjung Basnet, Manrupa Sharma, Padam Bahadur Pariyar, Kiran Babu Shrestha, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Jhakku Prasad Subedi, Sabitri Malla, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma, Krishna Bahadur Rokay, Renu Chand, Narayana Dutta Bhatt and Baldev Bohara.
