NGOs restricted to organize program at local level sans government permission

KATHMANDU, June 20: The government has decided to ban the non-governmental organizations to conduct any kind of programs at the local level.

KATHMANDU, June 20: The government has decided to ban the non-governmental organizations (NGO) to conduct any kind of programs at the local level.


Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit said that without the permission of the government, any non-governmental organizations are banned to conduct any sorts of programs.

NGOs' can operate their programs at the local level but only by co-operating with the government, he added.


While inaugurating the International Conference for the capacity building of local level held in the capital, Minister Pandit said that the government has started an initiative to make the work of public service flow effective in the local level.


Minister Pandit informed that, in order to make local level accountable, the government has reviewed the act.
