KATHMANDU, March 19: The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Kosh Hari Niraula as the Director General of the Department of Immigration (DoI). The post had been vacant since February 18, after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case against the then director general Rudra Singh Tamang.
The absence of a director general had been causing disruptions in various immigration-related services. To address this, the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred Niraula, who was serving as a Joint Secretary of Home Affairs, to lead the DoI.

Additionally, Gogan Bahadur Hamal, the former chief of Tribhuvan Airport Immigration Office, has been reassigned to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, with Nar Bahadur Thapa taking his place.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Home Affairs has reshuffled chief district officers (CDOs) in 11 districts. Dhruba Bahadur Khadka has been appointed in Sankhuwasabha, Surya Bahadur Chhetri in Arghakhanchi, Buddha Bahadur Gurung in Lamjung, Narayan Dhakal in Okhaldhunga, Khim Bahadur Rayamajhi in Rolpa, and Rishiraj Acharya in Jajarkot as chief district officers.
Ramraj Kadaria has been assigned to Dhanusha, Shiva Kumar Karki to Khotang, Yagya Raj Joshi to Darchula, Mina Aryal to Tehrathum, and Rabindra Acharya as the Chief District Officer of Taplejung.
Moreover, various departments and offices have been allocated new responsibilities and personnel have been transferred, including Kamal Raj Dhakal's transfer to the Ministry of Home Affairs as Joint Secretary.
