LONDON, Oct 2: Vice President of the Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Dr Badri KC has said that the Middle East is the heart of the NRNA campaign.
Dr KC said the NRNA members of Malaysia, the Middle East, Qatar, and Russia have a major role in the economic development of Nepal. Addressing the NRNA representatives of the Middle East at a virtual event, Dr KC said that the NRNA Middle East members provided medical oxygen to Nepal even though they had to skip their meals. He said that no Nepali citizen across the world should ever forget their contribution.

Stating that the Nepali workers in the Middle East are not only neglected in the country they work in but also by the NRNA, Dr KC announced his candidacy for the NRNA’s president to change that. He said that foreign employment contributes to 25 percent of the GDP, and that a large part of it is because of the workers who are in Middle Eastern countries. “Nepali workers in the Middle East are the financial soldiers of Nepal,” he said.
Stating that most workers who are in the Middle East are not there by their wish, he said that Nepalis would not have to toil hard in foreign countries if employment opportunities could be created in Nepal. “Nobody would have to work in a temperature of 40-50 degrees if only there were job opportunities in our motherland. We have to be aware about that first,” Dr KC said. He also said that as many as three to four dead bodies of Nepali migrant workers are sent to Nepal from the Middle East countries and Malaysia on a daily basis
Furthermore, Dr KC said that he will make provisions for a pension fund for Nepali workers who face financial difficulties in their old age.
Dr KC is currently the Vice President of NRNA. He has also served the post of General Secretary and Treasurer of NRNA. Dr KC also runs an import and export business in Russia and Ukraine while also branding Nepali tea in various countries.
