KATHMANDU, June 15: The National Vigilance Center (NVC) conducted a surprise inspection and monitoring of the government employees working inside Singha Durbar on Thursday.

NVC officials observed the situation from the southern gate of Singha Durbar in response to growing complaints that the employees were leaving their offices shortly after marking their attendance.

Hari Prasad Sharma, information officer of NVC, explained that they initiated the inspection following increasing complaints about government employees being absent during office hours. He stated that the monitoring team would take appropriate action based on the report submitted.

During the inspection, the vigilance center recorded details such as the employees' names, designations, identification numbers, and the reasons provided for leaving the Singha Durbar premises. The records indicated that a majority of employees left Singha Durbar for personal reasons.

Some of the reasons that the employees provided for leaving their offices include personal matters, discussions, refueling vehicles with petroleum products, hospital visits, delivering letters, meals, and visits to the Parliament House, among others.

The NVC began the surprise monitoring from 10:00 this morning, prompted by complaints of employees arriving at the beginning of office hours but subsequently disappearing for personal matters throughout the day. They would then return after regular office hours in the evening.
