KATHMANDU, May 1: The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has suggested to the Nepal government to amend the transitional justice legal framework in support of the Supreme Court ruling.

At a press briefing in Geneva earlier today, the spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights called on the Nepal government to pursue a truly fair and transparent transitional process in the country.

The UN body also urged the Nepal government to take the Supreme Court decision to stand by its ruling against amnesties for serious human rights violations committed during the decade-long armed conflict as an opportunity to revitalize the country's long-stalled transitional justice process in line with international norms and its international commitments.

The HR body also expressed solidarity with Nepal's transitional justice process.
