BIRGUNJ, Dec 24: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has participated in a public event in Parsa after nearly a decade.

CPN-UML has organized a grand assembly and party entry program in Jagarnathpur village where there used to be protests against Oli earlier. On the occasion, the leader who chanted anti-Oli slogans during the last Madhesh movement also joined the party wearing garlands from Oli's hands.

The party has claimed that thousands of people have joined the CPN-UML, including Jalim Mian, who had won the Jagarnathpur village chief of Parsa district from the CPN (Maoist Center). Along with him, some elected ward level people's representatives have also joined the party.

CPN (UML) chairperson and former Prime Minister Oli claimed that the CPN-UML is the party that had launched a campaign against corruption in the country. Speaking in the program at Jagarnathpur, Oli said that UML was the only party that was working for development.

"The current government is not a government that the people want. It is a government that was formed in a roundabout way, who does not want development," Oli said. “CPN-UML is the only option if people want development and stability in the country and upliftment in their lives.”

Stating that he had worked to solve the problem of flood in the border areas by taking initiatives with the Indian government, Oli said that the UML has worked for the development of Terai and Madhesi people.

Oli, who reached Jagarnathpur by helicopter, also inaugurated the newly constructed rural municipality building there. However, people's representatives, including the vice-chairperson of the rural municipality, boycotted the office inauguration program. As many as 26 people's representatives, including Vice President Bismillah Khatun, met on Wednesday on the eve of the program and decided to boycott the program and accused that there was financial irregularities in the construction of the building.
